String Orchestra

Starting out as a chamber with fewer than 10 members who had no prior experience in their instruments, SNSO currently has more than 60 members, consisting mainly of experienced instrumentalists. We stage many performances throughout the academic year both in and out of school.

Under the baton of Mr Edward Tan, we strive to spread the passion of music to all.

CCA Highlights

Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for Instrumental Ensembles In the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation 2025, we presented Serenade for Strings and Simple Symphony. SO is proud to be awarded the Certificate of Distinction.
SNSO Year End Concert – Senzationale In our student-run concert, both our training and main orchestras had the opportunity to take the audience on a journey through time with classical pieces such as the Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ and Osborne’s ‘Suite and Light’, as well as light-hearted pieces such as the Super Mario medley.
String Orchestra School Exchange To hone the skills of our students and foster bonding amongst like-minded musicians through performances and games, we collaborate with other schools such as Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and Nanyang Girls High School for school exchange.
SNSO Concert Outing To provide an authentic concert experience for our students, SNSO attends concerts to broaden our students’ exposure to music and performance.
